2016 TINTONEGRO MALBEC, VINEYARD 1955
One of Mendoza’s great viticultural treasures are the beautiful old vine Malbec vineyards of La Consulta. The vines are naturally balanced with exceptionally low yields - often under 1.5 lb per vine. The fruit has a wonderful balance between rich concentration and elegant, supple texture.
TINTONEGRO, meaning “black wine” in Spanish, is meant to celebrate the essence of Malbec in Mendoza. Known for its dark, blackish color, Malbec is definitely a TintoNegro.
The 2016 Tintonegro Vineyard 1955 is a pure Malbec produced from a vineyard planted in 1955 in La Consulta. Yields are low, so they need the grapes from two vines to produce a bottle of wine. It fermented with some 20% full clusters and matured in French barriques for 12 months. It has good complexity, moderate ripeness and good freshness and nuance. It’s powerful and elegan
