Domaine du Grand Ormeau, Lalande-de-Pomerol
90 points James Suckling
Beautiful aromas and flavors of juicy plums and fresh raspberries follow through to a full body with a good tannic structure, lovely acidty and a long, cedar-like finish. Very well done. Drink this. (2/2015)
90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
For more than 30 years, this has been one of my favorite Lalande de Pomerols, and the 2012 leaves no reason to lose confidence in this beautifully made wine. Deep ruby/purple color, it has beautiful mulberry and sweet black cherry fruit, silky tannins, and a ripe medium to full-bodied opulence and terrific purity and depth. Proprietor J.C. Beton has been on the top of his game for a long, long time and his family continues to produce terrific wines. Drink over the next decade. (RP) (3/2015)
Vinous
The 2012 Grand Ormeau is one of the real standouts among the many Lalande de Pomerols I tasted. Juicy, plump and wonderfully giving, the 2012 has a lot to offer. Dark stone fruits, licorice, mocha, scorched and spices add shades of nuance in this highly expressive, pleasing wine.
The 2012 is mostly Merlot, with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a strong showing from the Beton family and winemaker Michel Rolland. (AG) (1/2016)
